Logan County AAUW Awards Camp GEMS Scholarship

(July 8, 2008)— The Logan County branch of the American Association of University Women is honoring one young woman with a scholarship to attend Camp GEMS (Girls in engineering, math and science) at Ohio Northern University.

The scholarship was awarded to Ashley Wilson, daughter of Matt and Shawndel Wilson of East Liberty. Ashley is a student from the Ohio Virtual Academy who will be entering 7th grade this fall.

The four-day residential camp will be held July 22-25, 2008 on the ONU campus in Ada, Ohio.

Camp GEMS features hands-on activities in math, science, engineering and computers. AAUW/Logan County pays for the $250.00 camp fee which includes room, board and all educational materials.

This is the eleventh year AAUW/Logan County has provided a fully paid scholarship to Camp GEMS! A portion of the proceeds from the Benefit Trivia Bee for Education held in March is designated for funding the scholarship.
