Attention Members--Annual Building Grant Information

Hello All,

The AAUW Scholarship Committee met last week with Eric Tom from the Logan County Education Foundation and this week to collect our thoughts. The committee has decided to designate our contributions to the LCEF, raised through the Bee, as an annual $1,000 Building Grant. Mr. Tom agrees that this is a good way to make an impact with our dollars. He and I also discussed some of the other contract details such as when to reveal the winner, publicity, and bee-related incentives. Those are all things we can nail down when it comes time to sign the contract after the membership votes at the July meeting.

Below are further proposed details of the agreement. Amy, would you please post these on the website so members can have a look before we vote in July?

Thanks,
Jamie

Name of Grant: The American Association of University Women Logan County Branch Annual Building Grant

Amount: $1,000 (this will actually cost $1,100 each year as there is a 10% administration fee, additional money will be retained in an account for the next year)

Purpose: This grant is designed to encourage a team of teachers or entire staff to engage a grade level or student body in an innovative learning experience. Preference will be given to projects tackling issues such as economic development, civic engagement, biodiversity, cultural arts or other broad topics.

Other Notes:
* The committee would like to see a copy of the winning grant application and summary of the completed project.

* The committee would like the winner to be revealed either at the LCEF Banquet or as Mr. Tom suggested at the winning school's teacher work-day program.

* The committee would like to offer the winning school a free "bee" registration for them or a group of their choosing. We would also like the winners to give a short explanation of the project at the bee, bringing any visual aides necessary to show what is being done with the money.
